The Global Day for Darfur was originally conceived by a group of NGOs working on Darfur and concerned about the slow response of the international community to the crisis.
On September 17th 2006 the Globe for Darfur coalition marked the one year anniversary of the signing of the 2005 UN World Summit Outcome Document by holding the first Global Day for Darfur. With over 60 events in 42 cities, this was an unprecedented effort to end the suffering in Darfur .
December the 10th, 2006 saw organisations and individuals around the world involved in peaceful demonstrations, rallies, marches, exhibitions and concerts to denounce the use of rape and sexual violence in Darfur as weapons of war, and call on world leaders to take effective steps to end the killings and let people return to their homes.
On April 29th, 2007 the Globe for Darfur coalition marked the four year anniversary of the Darfur crisis with the biggest Global Day for Darfur yet. Events and actions took place in more than 200 cities worldwide, uniting people around the world in calling for the international community to protect Darfur.
September 16th 2007 saw the most high profile Day for Darfur yet, as activists around the world called on the UN General Assembly to keep the Darfur crisis in the spotlight and ensure the full and expeditious deployment of the UNAMID peacekeeping force.

24 Hours for Darfur is a grassroots advocacy campaign dedicated to ending the conflict in Darfur and promoting peace and security for the people living there. Using video, we strengthen Darfur advocacy by making it more direct, participatory and global. We are collecting video appeals demanding action now. Using a webcam, camcorder, digital camera or cell phone, anyone can easily record an appeal and upload it to our website.
Aegis Students societies for universities and schools arrange speaker events, attend rallies, write articles and letters, create poster campaigns, use concerts and other events for campaign purposes, and build lasting coalitions with other student societies to support work of the Aegis Trust against genocide. Rapidly developing in universities across the country, we have attended the NUS Conference since 2005 and hope to develop into a substantial grassroots political base for the Aegis Trust.
The Aegis Trust campaigns to prevent genocide worldwide. Aegis was founded in 2000 and has its home at the first Holocaust Centre in the UK. Since 2002 Aegis has had an office in Kigali, Rwanda, and were responsible for establishing the Kigali Memorial Centre in cooperation with the Kigali City Council. Aegis activities include research, policy, education, remembrance, awareness of genocide issues in the media and humanitarian support for victims of genocide.

Paris-based Collectif Urgence Darfour was founded in February 2005. It is a coalition supported by over 100 organizations including major anti-racist organizations, unions, political parties, African groups etc. Its call has been signed by over 1000 leading personalities and artists and has organised several meetings and demonstrations on the disarming of the Janjawid and a clear UN mandate to protect the civilians of Darfur.

The Darfur Relief and Documentation Centre (DRDC) is an independent, apolitical and non-governmental organisation based in Geneva. DRDC was established in May 2004 with the view to injecting an independent and impartial civil society perspective for a peaceful resolution of armed conflicts in the Darfur region of western Sudan.
Dream for Darfur is a global advocacy campaign that was established in May 2007. Our goal is to reach out to the Government of China to urge its leaders – as the host of the 2008 Summer Olympics – to persuade the government of Sudan to consent immediately to true UN participation in a large peace support and civilian protection operation in Darfur; this needs to be an operation with an appropriate mandate for civilian and humanitarian protection.
ENOUGH is a project to end genocide and crimes against humanity. ENOUGH applies a framework called the Three Ps - promoting peace, providing protection and punishing the perpetrators - to stop mass atrocities where they are already happening, and prevent these crimes from happening in the future. Currently, ENOUGH focuses on Sudan, eastern Congo and northern Uganda.

Fidelity Out of Sudan was founded in January 2007 to pressure Fidelity Investments and other American investment firms to divest from certain oil companies operating in Sudan and thereby helping to fund genocide in Darfur. In addition to asking individuals to call or write Fidelity to object to its holdings in PetroChina and Sinopec, the Fidelity Out of Sudan campaign urges all investors to review their personal portfolios and divest from any Sudanese oil-related investments.

International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) was established in 1922, and today unites 141 member organizations in more than 100 countries around the world. FIDH coordinates and supports their activities and provides them with a voice at the international level. FIDH takes action for the protection of victims of human rights violations, for the prevention of violations and to bring perpetrators to justice.
Investors Against Genocide is a non-profit organization dedicated to convincing investment firms to change their investing strategy so as to avoid complicity in genocide. The organization will work with individuals, companies, organizations, financial institutions, and government agencies to create financial, public relations, and regulatory pressure for investment firms to change. The ultimate goals are that the Government of Sudan ends its deadly genocide in Darfur and that investment firms avoid investing in genocide in the future.
Italian Blogs for Darfur (IB4D) is an Italian movement that attempts to mobilize public opinion in favour of Darfur, fighting the indifference of the traditional Italian media towards the tragic events taking place in Darfur and increasing pressure on Italian government. Only by guaranteeing the Italian citizens correct and complete information can we hope, in fact, that the Italian institutes work towards finding a solution to the conflict.

The United Nations Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UNA-UK) is the leading independent authority on the UN in the UK. Because we are independent of the UN system and receive no funding from it, we can also be critical of its decisions and activities when we need to be, and can call for the Organisation to be reformed so that it is better equipped to fulfill its fundamental functions: to maintain international peace and security, to promote development and to uphold human rights around the world.
